Heritage Quality Goods has partnered with Harker Leatherworks to bring a truly magnificent belt to market - The Georgia Gaucho Belt! Designed and crafted in the Southeast, Georgia USA!
Any belt starts with the leather of course. In this case natural bark tanned leather from the renowned world famous J&FJ Baker tannery in England. It does not get any more heritage than this, the only remaining oak bark tannery. J&FJ Baker family has been doing this tanning process for six generations since 1862. The tannery is in Devonshire, England and it has been doing leather tanning since the Roman times. The oak bark tanning process is truly unique. Quoting the tannery, "The oak bark tanning process we have perfected produces beautiful, hardwearing and unique leather with superior tensile strength. Using all natural, locally, and sustainably sourced materials each piece of leather takes over a year to produce and many hours of labour intensive work". The pictures do not do justice, you need to see this leather in person to truly appreciate the character.
Next, this fantastic naturally tanned leather is stamped with unique art inspired by the antihero cowboys of the Spaghetti Westerns. This stamp will allow the leather to age and patina very uniquely compared to traditional leather belts with a flat surface. In this case the regular surface around the stamping will gain more patina and the inner stamped area will take on a different hue which will enhance the artwork all the more!
After the leather and stamping, durability and ruggedness are paramount. 13 oz leather is used, with dual pronged brass buckle. The tanning process of this cow leather creates a higher tensile strength than a typical cow leather. Designed and built to last with materials that will not fail. This will truly be a life long belt you can pass down with heritage to your next generation.
Belts are made to order upon purchase.
You will be contacted when you order to discuss sizing and measurement of the belt so we can get the size exactly correct for your Georgia Gaucho Belt.
